Welcome to gtsync. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your data remains yours. This Privacy Policy explains how our application handles your information when you sync tasks between Google Tasks and Apple Reminders.
We built gtsync with a privacy-first architecture.
On-Device Processing: All data processing, matching, and syncing logic occurs locally on your device.
No Developer Servers: We do not route your tasks, reminders, or information through our own servers. We do not view, store, sell, or monetize your personal data.
To function, gtsync acts as a direct bridge between Google Tasks and Apple Reminders.
The app requests access to Apple Reminders and Google Tasks solely to read, create, update, and delete tasks as part of the sync process.
The synchronization communicates directly between your device, Apple Reminders, and the respective Google APIs.
Data Accessed: gtsync requests local device access to your Apple Reminders. The specific types of data accessed include your reminder titles, notes, due dates, and completion statuses.
Data Usage: This data is used exclusively for the core functionality of the app: providing a two-way, automated synchronization between your native Apple Reminders and your Google Tasks account. We process this data to read, create, update, and delete reminders so both platforms remain perfectly mirrored.
Data Sharing: We do not share, sell, or transfer your Apple Reminders data to any external developer servers, advertising networks, or data brokers. However, to fulfill the app's purpose, your reminder data is securely transmitted directly from your device to the Google Tasks API.
Data Storage & Protection: Your Apple Reminders data is never stored on our servers because we do not operate any backend servers. All sync history and mapping data required to keep track of your reminders are stored securely and locally within your Apple device's sandboxed storage.
Data Retention & Deletion: Because your data is processed entirely on-device, we do not retain your Reminders data on any remote servers. Your sync mapping data is retained locally on your device only for as long as the gtsync app is installed. To request the deletion of your data, simply delete the gtsync app from your device. This will instantly and permanently erase all localized mapping data and sync history. (Note: Deleting gtsync will not delete your actual reminders from the Apple Reminders app or iCloud; it only removes gtsync's access and sync history).
Data Accessed: gtsync requests access to your Google Tasks. The specific types of Google user data accessed include your task titles, task descriptions (notes), due dates, and completion statuses.
Data Usage: This data is used exclusively for the core functionality of the app: providing a two-way, automated synchronization between your Google Tasks and your native Apple Reminders. We process this data to create, read, update, and delete tasks so both platforms remain mirrored.
Data Sharing: We do not share, sell, or transfer your Google user data to any external developer servers, advertising networks, or data brokers. However, to fulfill the app's purpose, your Google Tasks data is shared locally on your device with the Apple Reminders application.
Data Storage & Protection: Your Google user data is never stored on our servers because we do not have servers. All synced data, sync history, and your Google OAuth authentication tokens are stored securely and locally on your Apple device using Apple's native, encrypted device storage and Keychain.
Data Retention & Deletion: Because your data is processed entirely on-device, we do not retain your data on any remote servers. Your data is retained locally on your device only for as long as the gtsync app is installed. To request the deletion of your data, simply delete the gtsync app from your device. This will instantly and permanently erase all localized Google Tasks data, authentication tokens, and sync history associated with the app.
Because our app connects external platforms, the data synced to those platforms is subject to their respective privacy policies:
Google: The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data stored in Google Tasks is governed by Google’s privacy policies.
Apple: Data stored in Apple Reminders is governed by Apple’s privacy policies.
We do not see or store your passwords.
Google: We use Google's secure OAuth authentication. Your device stores an industry-standard token locally to maintain the connection.
Apple Reminders: We utilize the native iOS/macOS frameworks to request permission to access Apple Reminders on your device.
We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or crash reporting tools within gtsync. We do not collect any app analytics or usage data on our own.
The only data we may have access to is the standard, fully anonymized crash logs and basic app usage metrics collected natively by Apple through the iOS operating system. We only receive this data if you have explicitly opted into sharing device analytics with app developers in your Apple device settings. This Apple-provided data contains no personal information or task content and is used strictly to identify bugs and ensure the app is functioning correctly.
Because your data is stored locally on your device, within your Google accounts, and within Apple Reminders, you have complete control over it.
You can revoke the app's access to Apple Reminders at any time via your device's Privacy Settings.
You can revoke the app's access to your Google Account at any time through your Google Account Security settings.
Deleting the app from your device will remove all locally stored sync history and preferences.
